sECuRItY sYstEMs NEWs august 2013 Monitoring www.securitysystemsnews.com 25 UCC ups mobility with new central station software By Rich Miller SAN ANTONIO—United Central Control is switching to SGS' Stages for its central station automation, giving UCC dealers expanded access to mobile applications and improving effciencies to reduce alarmprocessing errors, company offcials told Security Systems News. UCC President Teresa Gonzalez said the wholesale monitoring provider, based here, took two years to determine which automation software would be best for its 500 dealers. "SGS seemed to have all of the tools and feature sets that we were looking for when it came to dealer apps, back-offce support and fexibility of custom integration, which we're heavily involved in," Gonzalez said. "That open platform was very attractive to us." Gonzalez said SGS has an addressing system that will help UCC as it moves forward with the Automated Secure Alarm Protocol, which speeds the delivery of alarm notifcations to public safety answering points by providing information via computer instead of by phone. "As we continue to add more police departments to the ASAP program, there will be an 'accept' verifcation for the PSAP to minimize any chance for error during the dispatch process," Gonzalez said. Mark Matlock, senior vice president of UCC, said the capability of Stages to provide automated action plans also will improve operations. "I think the hardest thing for a central station to do is follow dealer notes, and the action plans will literally take the place of dealer notes," he told SSN. "It puts all of the actions that are required to follow the notes into automation versus putting them into the hands of an operator for interpretation." SSN Dynamark Continued from page 24 Shanks said Dynamark's credentials were instrumental in clinching the sale. "When I decided to sell, I knew I needed the right buyer," he said in a statement. "We are now served by a UL Listed, CSAA Five Diamond central station, and we're part of a dealer program that can help all of us grow our businesses." SSN CPI IP and PoE over Coax with eBridgePlus... only from Altronix Continued from page 24 though Hurst acknowledged they weren't always in a position to capture the honor. "We submitted an application years ago at the frst excellence awards, but we really weren't quite ready at that time," Hurst said. "We hadn't entered again since then, but we've read articles about the winners since, and realized this was our year to step forward and show our central station. It's a huge honor, and we couldn't be more proud." Adding to CPI's haul at ESX was Crystal McLemore, who also won a CSAA E x c e l l e n c e Aw a rd f o r Operator of the Year. SSN UCC Continued from page 24 said Chris Brown, vice president of the Reston, Va.-based company. "[UCC] understands video monitoring technology and how to integrate it with operational protocols to provide outstanding customer service." Matlock explained that another key to the partnership was CheckVideo's interactive approach and how it is stepping up to train UCC's dealers. Technical and sales training has already begun at UCC's statelicensed school in Texas, Matlock said, providing what is basically "Video 101." "It's been wonderful for us. We have a lot of dealers involved with this training who would have never known where to start."
