SeCurity SySteMS neWS February 2014 Monitoring www.securitysystemsnews.com 25 Mace sells central station to Security Partners Continued from page 1 Security Partners has the right to use the Mace brand for "about six months," Egan said, but the central station will eventually be rebranded under the Security Partners' banner. Mace Central Station is a subsidiary of Cleveland-based Mace Security International, a publicly traded company known as a manufacturer of defense sprays, which entered the alarm monitoring space in 2009. The accounts from Mace comprise about a 50-50 split between commercial and residential accounts, Egan said. Egan expects certain technological factors to ease the integration of the new facility. Security Partners is currently in the process of installing the Tadiran voice processing telephone system in its centrals here and in San Antonio. Mace, for its part, had already made a "big investment in Tadiran as well," Egan noted. "So that will be plug and play." Mike Bodnar, president of Security Partners, expects the acquisition of Mace Central Station to be a boon to the company's Advanced Services Division. "[Mace] did quite a bit with Videofed and VideoIQ and other video surveillance products, so couple that with what we had with our Advanced Services in Lancaster, and we take that level of service with our redundancy and software updates up another notch with dealers," he said. Bodnar is eager about the prospect of having "mirrored setups" of receiver systems across the board at all three centrals. That, he said, will further enable the company to provide enhanced offerings to dealers across the country. "Now we'll roll up our sleeves to get that done," he said. SSn securtek Continued from page 24 first acquisition within this approved fnancing. Scott Security will continue to operate as Scott Security, retaining its brand in tandem with that of SecurTek, Jones said, with Scott "basically becoming an authorized SecurTek dealer." The Scott Security purchase, which brings in a nearly even mix of commercial and residential accounts, is the kind of strategic acquisition SecurTek, now 70,000 accounts strong, hopes to continue pursuing as part of its broader expansion strategy, Jones said. "We're going to continue to grow our company on a national basis, as we look for the companies across Canada that can offer the kind of local appeal that Scott Security offers," Jones said. "We'll continue to look for companies that we can form this kind of partnership or alliance with, and we have the additional line of credit available to set us up to do this." SSn i-View Continued from page 24 Dunn added that the service is designed to overcome some of the challenges central stations have faced with video verifcation in the past. With the service, "all alarms are integrated into the standard system, which cuts down the learning curve dramatically, as well as the response time," he said. Larry Folsom, CEO of I-View Now, said the device monitoring component played a critical role in shaping the vision of the service. Prior to the partnership, one of Folsom's deepest concerns was how to develop a reliable method for monitoring the status of cameras. "If we don't know the status of the camera then we can't know the status of the recording," Folsom said. The status monitoring function embedded in the service informs central station personnel and end users if cameras are online, offine or have been tampered with. "It's more than just VSaaS. It's monitored VSaaS from the status perspective," Folsom said. "And you can leverage that investment to clients by being able to offer video verifcation and guard tours."
