Peter Stouffer was recently named vice president of acquisitions at Guardian Alarm, an independently-owned security company focused on residential, commercial and medical monitoring. "I have run several companies in my past history," Stouffer told Security Systems News, "most- ly manufacturing companies in life safety. So, I'm new to Guardian but very, very excited about the possibilities. My goal is to make sure we [Guardian] do acquisitions well." Are you married? Kids? Pets? I am married with three chil- dren and four grandchildren, and two dogs. What do you like most about the security industry? I love waking up every morning knowing that what I do saves people's lives and protects people. It's a motivating factor … saving lives. That's pretty empowering! What is something interesting about you that your coworkers might not know? I wrote a book about Legos about 20 years ago and it was actually a published book about building stuff with Legos. It's called "Lego Mindstorms for Dum- mies." I was a robotics coach at the local middle school for 17 years and we built robots out of Legos, so I was something of a Lego expert, but I'm too old for it now! What's the best way to start the day to ensure it is successful and productive? A great cup of coffee! My favorite type of coffee is Battle Alley Coffee; it's a local roaster here in Michigan. What movie, book or podcast would you recommend to others and why? I actu- ally have a fairly long drive to work every day, something over an hour, so I've been listening to a podcast called, "A History of the English Language." It is not only history starting way back in the early 400s in England, but then it's also how it has affected English language. I'm a bit of a history nut so this is quite interesting. It's 120 episodes and I'm half way through it, and if you're into history or language at all…fantastic podcast! —Ginger Schlueter Five Questions COMPANY (ticker) Price Previous 52-WK HIGH 52-WK LOW EPS ADT (ADT) 7.22 6.57 13.02 5.88 0.24 Alarm.com (ALRM) 58.08 50.23 60.20 33.39 0.27 Allegion (ALLE) 81.99 84.31 94.30 73.85 3.25 Ascent Capital Group (ASCMA) 0.44 0.58 10.69 0.25 -26.90 Cisco Systems Inc.
