us here at SSN, the 8th annual Security 5K Run/2K Walk, raised more than $125,000 to support Mission 500, an organization that supports children and communities in crisis. At the Mission 500 awards event, this year's Mission 500 Corporate Social Responsibil- ity (CSR) award went to North Star Alarm Services, with Dan Noble, North Star's COO, accepting the award. The atmosphere at this year's show was electric, with a healthy buzz on the show fl oor, and many exhibitors saying that this was the "best" ISC West they have ever been to. [See page 1 for more ISC West coverage.] In terms of numbers, the show broke the 30,000 attendee milestone, a 3 percent increase from previous years, according to Sher- ida Sessa, industry vice president, ISC Events & Connected Security Expo. The show also had more than 1,000 exhibitors, including more than 200 new exhibitors. There was also a sense of renewed optimism about the security industry in general and where it is headed in this age of high tech products. Speaking of new tech, there was an abundance of new products, and new companies at ISC this year, and the SIA New Product Showcase (NPS) award winners exemplify how tech-driven the industry has become and will continue to be moving forward. CrucialTrak's Biometric Access Control System was awarded the Best New Product, with Hydra's Thermal Impairing Radar took the Judges' Choice Award. Other winners included SHARP Robotics, an Unmanned Security Expo exhibitor, as well as Right Crowd Software Essentials, a Connected Security Expo exhibitor. Other notable SIA NPS Award Winners included HID Global for its Location Services; TycoSP for its Istar Ultra Video; Feenics for its KEEP cloud solution; Honeywell for its 5800 COMBO Smoke CO2 Detector; ASSA ABLOY Americas for its IN220 green/sustain- able solutions product; Bosch for its Zigbee Multi-Sensor; March Networks for its Search Lights; Axis Communications for its Q6155E PTZ Dome and Site Designer; Quantum Corp. for its Quantum StorNext 5.4; and FLIR for its United VMS, to name just a few.
