T here is a trend in the locking hardware industry towards lower power locking devices. From ortise locks to electric strikes and exit devices, companies have been migrating from high powered solenoid actuators to lower powered options. For example the EcoFlex™ electrifed mortise lock from ASSA ABLOY Group brands Corbin Russwin and SARGENT takes what used to be a 500mA current draw and reduces it to a mere 15mA. This 96% reduction in the lock's power consumption is a huge improvement over existing locking devices.
